CNTraveler’s Style Director Mark Connolly shares the top three fashion trends that he spotted on the Italian runways.
First The ’50s Luxe Mismatch:
This season, the ’50s silhouettes showed themselves again and are back for the Fall/Winter of 2013. Prada made a big splash with the luxe mismatch. By creating a worn-in look using tweeds, leather, lace and fur, sometimes all in one outfit. Heavy embellishments were also used very often, especially along side full skirts, pencil skirts, pointy pumps or even heavy masculin shoes.
The Glam Slam:
drop dead gorgeous glam is best done by the Milanese designers. This season was no exception for Fendi who went full tilt with luxurious color-accented furs and amazingly vivid ponyskin tribal accessories. Dolce&Gabbana had the great idea of two glam alternatives. Versace chose the rock chick route with full on punk princesses.
The Boots Made For Walking:
In term sof accessories, it was most defiantly the season of the boots. Flat, riding, brogued, ’60s mod, or gladiator—the hard choice will be yours! Here are some of the best of the season. One of my personal favorites are the metal boots. I though that this was especially creative and artistic.
